My name is Parmida and I graduated from Perth Modern School with a 99.35 ATAR in 2018. I am currently studying Medical Science, Computer Science and Italian at UWA through the Bachelor of Philosophy. I have over 2 years of experience tutoring both WACE (Chemistry, Human Biology, Maths Methods, Maths Applications, Italian) and lower school subjects (Science, Maths, English). I also have great experience working with students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia and ADHD.
I employ a variety of techniques to explain difficult topics to students, such as drawing annotated diagrams, word analogies + stories, or flow charts. Generally, it takes me 5-10 minutes to bring all the learned concepts together to summarise a topic. I will typically get students to draw a diagram themselves or put the concept in their own words to ensure more profound understanding of the topic, revising weak points if need be. Some techniques I use to keep classes engaged are be putting up practice questions for people to attempt, asking and introducing discussion questions to prompt class-wide in-depth thinking about the topic. I have a vast question-bank and I will typically give a “Question of the Week” to keep students encouraged to think about the topic outside of the class setting.
